ABOUT ME

It’s been a long journey – one that’s hopefully long from being finished. Until now, I followed the road most traveled, the traditional path. College in the 80s. Marriage, motherhood in the 90s. High school English teacher. But no path is straight and narrow. Sometimes, it becomes bumpy and filled with potholes, steep inclines, and sharp drop-offs. Sometimes, it seems as if there’s no road at all. So it was for me. After finding myself on my own with two children to raise, I went back to school, earned a PhD in English from Swansea University in Wales, taught at a couple of universities. Then, the path curved and twisted again, and I now find myself traveling a road that looks vaguely familiar and long desired. The children grown, I retired early from teaching and have now begun writing fulltime. It’s what I wanted to do from the beginning. And I suppose it’s best to begin by making a declaration that I hope one day rolls off my tongue as previous roles did, those that I never seemed to have trouble saying. I am a wife. I am a mother. I am a teacher. So, I’m now declaring it. I am a writer. The road less traveled. Hopefully, you’ll decide to join me on some of my journeys. See you soon.
